Education - 2010
As 2010 drew to a close, many Samaj members helped out on specific projects in the field of Education. Prof RSS Mani, HRM Educator, Career Mentor and active co-ordinator, acknowledges the generosity of the Samaj members, in actively supporting NGO activities.
Shri K. N. Gayatrinathan donated a computer, which was sent to the Education centre, run
by VAP, at the Virar tribal belt, for the underprivileged. Shri Jayyannt Lapsiaa donated a
computer, which was sent to the Youth for India - NGO project, at Borivili, which caters to
educating underprivileged slum kids.
Around 500 books donated by several well-wishers, on Medicine, Management, Engineering
and general subjects, were collected by the Samaj. These were sent to Vidya Poshak
libraries in rural Tamil Nadu, catering to the poor and needy.
Two cartons of useful educational material were collected and sent to Nivethan Trust,
Madurai, catering to the educational needs of under-privileged children.

Felicitation of Municipal School Teacher
for their yeomen services in teaching under-privileged children
Inter-School English Elocution Competition
21 students participated in the Elocution Competition and 16 teachers were felicitated.
Besides the cash award of Rs.1000 and gifts, Certificates of Honour were given to the
teachers. The event was held in the benign presence of His Holiness, who also blessed the
gathering with His Anugraha Bhashan. Shri M. Chandramouleeswaran, Administrator and
Sri Kariyam and his wife, Rama distributed the prizes and honoured the teachers.
Mrs. Prema Sundereswaran, once again, did a splendid job of organizingthis event. She had
contacted the school teachers and the students. Prof. R.S.S. Mani, who was one of the
judges for the competition, arranged for special gifts for the students. Besides, he also gave
a pep talk, which was well received by the students and their parents.
After completing their Computer Education Foundation Course, the first batch of 80 students,
under the guidance of Sujaya Foundation, were awarded their certificates. The second batch
was inaugurated by Mr. Vinod Seth and his children, on 6th July, 2010. The third batch will
commence in the first week of October.
The Samaj has donated four computers to Sujaya Foundation, for their Computer Education
Centre in Goregaon, for under-privileged children. The computers were donated by Samaj
Vice-President, Mr. P. R. Subramaniam, through his company, Allied Aviation Private Limited.
The Samaj has donated two computers to Mamta Charitable Foundation, Pune, to set up a
Computer Centre for the poor. The Samaj has donated two computers to ADAPT, Colaba,
to run a Computer Centre for the under-privileged. This donation, too, has been made by
Mr. P. R. Subramaniam.
The Samaj is facilitating the setting up of five Libraries, three in Mumbai, one in Nagpur and
one in Lucknow, for various schools for the poor, monitored by the NGO, Dharam Bharathi
Mission. The initial donation of 5000 books from Pearson Education towards this project
has already been delivered to the Samaj.
The Samaj has begun the process of helping the social service organization, Vidya Poshak,
enhance their library resources, across several locations in rural Maharashtra and Karnataka.
The Samaj has helped several deserving children from nearby slum communities in Govandi
and Mankhurd, with school-related stationery items, through the initiative of Samaj members,
Mr. P. R. Subramaniam and Mr. K. N. Gayatrinathan
