Since more than a decade, Smt. Premabai Laxmichand Lapsia Medical Centre has rendered yeoman service to the economically weaker sections of society. It has offered highly subsidised medical aid to more than 50,000 patients. Basic medicines have been distributed free of cost.

Eye-Camps & Eye Screenings

In coordination with K. B. Bachooali Ophthalmic & E.N.T. Hospital, the Samaj has conducted 125 Eye Camps, which have attracted huge crowds from all over Maharashtra. Since October 2009, the Hospital volunteers have been visiting mohallas and colonies, public are encouraged to visit the Eye screening centre set up at the Samaj. The Hospital, with their staff arrange to do eye-screening and provide spectacles. So far over 900 patients have been screened and 560 spectacles provided. This project is funded by Sight Savers International and Standard Chartered Bank. The Samaj has donated a Medical Van to the hospital, costing over Rs. 6.5 lakhs, which is used for transportation of patients and hospital staff.

Eye Screening or Refraction is done on every Saturday. Volunteers of Bachooali Hospital visit various mohallas and colonies, to convince people to come to the Shankaralayam Screening Centre. Spectacles are provided for just Rs 25/-
